U13: Mavericks 3 St Josephs Emeralds 3

The Mavericks were at home to St Josephs Emeralds in what turned out to be a tough fought contest. The Mavericks were in front after 4 minutes when Ashley Smith slotted home after some good build up play. The Visitors were level just 7 minutes later after the Mavericks failed to clear the ball from a corner. The Mavericks were just edging things and in the 22nd minute after a Mavericks throw in Jack Hattersley passed to Thomas Foster who duly scored at close range.Again the visitors equalised and so the score remained 2-2 at half time.

The second half was as fiercely contested as the first with neither team giving much away, but it was the Mavericks who regained the lead through Ben Vodden when he scored through a crowded goal area.St Josephs didnt give up and were rewarded with the equaliser when the Mavericks again failed to deal with a corner. The score remained 3-3 at full time and so both teams had to be content with a point each. The Mavericks were without regular goalkeeper Ben Clayton due to a nasty fall which left him hospitalised and possibly out of action for the rest of the season, but new keeper Callan Pettinger performed well on his debut. The Mavericks wish Ben a full and speedy recovery. Man of the match for the Mavericks was Nathan Wright.
